The US Presidential election earlier this month between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump has been unlike any political event in recent memory. Though both candidates received passionate support and hate in equal measure, many people believed that a Clinton victory would still be likely. But just like the Brexit vote, many experts pollsters underestimated the result of a Trump win.
Why did this section of the media narrative get it so wrong? Again? For many voters there’s been a disconnect between the theory of democracy where “government by the people for the people” is not what they see practically happening in their everyday lives.
As the world eagerly awaits to see what a Trump presidency has to offer, America is also taking baby steps into new territory. How well will an incoming President with no previous political office fare domestically and internationally? How well can he translate his successful business acumen into growing a successful economy? One of the similarities with Brexit has been the sense that the economic needs of many citizens overwhelmingly need to be addressed.
Once again, the importance of families developing a plan for a domestic personal economy is essential.
